Sunset at la Dôle / Private excursion with Jane and Cherie

It’s the middle of fall. The weather is cool, waves of mist roam the sublime landscape, and the sun shines timidly. The atmosphere is beautiful. Shortly before meeting our 2 guests, I found a first group of Chamois with binoculars. The dream when you are a guide! : D

We are therefore moving slowly towards them. At that moment, they are located a few hundred meters away. Along the way, a few birds come and go, including a very beautiful Northern Wheatear in typical autumn plumage.

We continue to approach very gently, making less and less noise. The goal with an approach like this is for the animals to see us a long time in advance so as not to be surprised, then gradually tolerate us, to the point of continuing their activities without being afraid of us. You have to take your time, and take repeated breaks. We take it easy to show them that we are not a threat.

Communication is established between them and us. Non-verbal communication of course, but messages do get exchanged.

We spend some time with them, then the rain comes. We move to take shelter under a tree, long enough to let the downpour. We then find a second group of Chamois on a grassy slope. With the fall colors, the scene is beautiful. Our 2 guests are delighted with these many meetings.

Finally, we take a little altitude to observe the landscape. We are almost at the edge of the clouds. The weather is getting darker and darker, and it is already time for us to come down.

It was once again a great pleasure to bring our guests to meet the Chamois de La Dôle.
