Sunset at la Dôle / Private excursion with Thierry

In the afternoon I meet Thierry, one of our most loyal adventure companions, for this new experience in the heart of nature. I am delighted to guide him to La Dôle in the Jura to try and observe the Chamois.

When we get there, I start scanning the surroundings with binoculars. No sign of chamois in the first area we explore. We change direction and as we gain altitude, I see a first Chamois in the distance, quietly crossing our field of vision. We are positioned below and motionless behind the trees, but this is already enough to be spotted. The Chamois looks at us for a moment and peacefully continues on his way.

We find him a little higher up, surrounded by more than a dozen other individuals, including young chamois of the year, that is to say born 3-4 months maximum.

One of them is lying, enjoying the sun. The moment is sweet, peaceful, and memorable.

By being patient and limiting our movements as much as possible, Chamois live their life, feed without really worrying about us, and sometimes find themselves only a few meters away.

We spend some time with this group and continue on our way. Our excursion to La Dôle is also an opportunity to enjoy the incredible scenery. From the Jura, the view of Lake Geneva and the Alps is breathtaking!

As we are quietly enjoying the moment, the group of Chamois we have seen before comes towards us. Those are the most beautiful moments in nature. When the wild animal is confident enough to approach us.

We take our time and observe their natural behavior, their family life. Then it's time to say goodbye to them and come back down. It was again an enchanted afternoon at La Dôle.
