Animals are not called in nor baited, so no species can be guaranteed. Also, no sensitive information that could put a species in danger will be given. Itinerary of our wildlife tour in Portugal
Meeting place : Paul da Tornada Reserve
Meet at the entrance to the Paul da Tornada Reserve in the town of Tornada, located just 10 minutes from Caldas da Rainha. After observing the first species in the immediate vicinity of the reserve's centre, we will head towards the 2 observatories located on the edge of the ponds. Depending on the season, it is possible to make magnificent observations: Osprey, Western Swamphen, Eurasian Marsh-Harrier, Common Waxbill, Iberian Gray Shrike, Goshawk… We will then walk on the path to go around the entire reserve, a few kilometers of flat walking. By taking all our time, we will be able to listen and observe dozens of species of birds. In the reserve it is also possible to see the European Otter! To have a chance, it is best to do the excursion at the end of the day. Then we will leisurely return to the starting point where this birding excursion will end.
