Itinerary of our wildlife tour in Spain
Meeting place : Malaga airport
Arrival in Spain at Malaga airport. We will do a first stop by wetlands near the airport, trying to spot some Iberian specialties such as the White-headed Duck and the Marbled Duck. Then, we will start to drive towards Cordoba. We will make a few stops to observe wetlands. We will arrive in the Sierra de Andujar at the end of the afternoon and we will start looking for the Iberian Lynx. In the evening, we will share a nice dinner in our lodge.
⌂ Authentic and comfortable BnB
The first hours of dawn will be dedicated to the search for the Lynx. We will also have the opportunity to observe Red Deer, Fallow Deer and Iberian Ibex. On the bird side, we will have the opportunity to observe the majestic Spanish Imperial Eagles, Owls, Red Partridges, Iberian Magpies, Dartford Warblers, etc. During the hot hours, we will share a meal and then look for the Eagle Owl as well as several species of bats that sleep in an old tunnel. At dusk, we will survey the hills in search of the Lynx. The Eagle Owl may be heard ... Some evenings may also be dedicated to the search for European otters on the river.
⌂ Authentic and comfortable BnB
Last morning for the Lynx search. We will begin our journey to the edge of the Atlantic Ocean during the hot hours. We will arrive at El Rocio which borders Doñana National Park in the early evening. The nearby flooded plains should allow us beautiful naturalistic observations.
⌂ Night in El Rocio
Day dedicated to Doñana National Park in which we will follow a local guide. The coastal habitat made up of dunes and pine forests conceals many surprises. The second population of Iberian Lynx inhabits this park. Deer are common and photographic opportunities will not be lacking. The avifauna is also rich there since many lagoons are present.
⌂ Night in El Rocio
The morning will be devoted to the Doñana National Park and / or the wetlands bordering El Rocio. In the middle of the day, we will leave the park to return to the region of Malaga. The road being long, a few stops will be dedicated to naturalistic discoveries. We will take the opportunity to look for the discreet Chameleons common in the coastal vegetation.
⌂ Night in Malaga
Direction to the airport on the last morning. After a quick breakfast, we will head together to the airport. If the schedule allows it, we will briefly stop again by the wetlands near the airport.
